Samsung Galaxy S To Get Android 2.3 Gingerbread Within Weeks

The popular Samsung Galaxy S smartphone will receive the latest Gingerbread update according to Three’s Twitter feed where a post mentions that the update is expected to come within the next couple of weeks but that they cannot yet confirm a date.

Android Gingerbread 2.3.2 Now Available on Samsung Galaxy S

Quite obviously, Galaxy S developers didn’t want to wait for Samsung to release a Gingerbread ROM. The forums recently got flooded with Gingerbread after XDA member Lorbas released a complete ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S, version number 2.3.2, coming straight from Samsung itself. It doesn’t work on custom kernels (yet), so that’s a thing to keep in mind when you’re planning to try this out.

Make sure to read the instructions first, you don’t want to end up with a useless brick. Continue on to the Galaxy S forums to find a Gingerbread ROM that fits your taste!

Gingerbread Keyboard Tweaked For Atrix

Fancy trying out the Gingerbread keyboard on your Motorola Atrix? Well now you can, thanks to XDA forum member uskr.

You’ll need to have a deodexed system to use this stock Gingerbread keyboard on your Atrix. It is taken from the Nexus S ROM and is not a themed keyboard. However, the keyboard is tweaked for the Atrix screen resolution, and has bigger letters on the keys. Additionally, the landscape version provides more space for the input form.

Google Releases Android 2.3.3 Update .ZIPs For Nexus One And Nexus S

Google may have jumped the gun on announcing that the Android 2.3.3 update for the Nexus One was available – although they did say that it could be a few weeks until the update deployed OTA, it wasn’t available for download and install, either.
