Most recently, he told Reuters Technology Summit in New York last Monday that tablets using Google’s Android platform could overtake Apple Inc’s red-hot iPad within three years as improved versions and more applications hit the market. He added that these new versions of Android, most especially Honeycomb, will beat the iPad as developers make more games and other software to use on them.
Jen-Hsun Huang even said, “The Android phone took only two and a half years to More >

Sony Chief Defends Response to PlayStation Data Breach
May 18th
Over the weekend Sony finally brought its PlayStation Network back online after attackers forced it to shut down for almost a month. Now the company’s top managers are defending their response to the attack, which some say was too slow.
In an interview at the company’s New York offices on Tuesday, Howard Stringer, Sony’s chief executive, argued that Sony had responded to the attack in a timely manner, and that as executives learned about the extent of the attack, they regularly shared information with customers.
When asked why Sony waited almost a week to notify customers that personal information and credit card More >

May 17th
NVIDIA CEO – Jen-Hsun Huang is one smart guy, and has helped make NVIDIA on of the top tech companies in the world of GPU’s. Most recently, Huang went on the public record, and said that it is quite safe to assume that concerns and issues surrounding the initial batch of Android-powered tablets “have been largely addressed”, and that things are only going to get better and better. If we can all recall the glory days back to when the original handset was launched, and how far Android has come, and how many devices, countries, and carriers it has gone More >

It’s been three and a half years since Google introduced the very operating system we write about everyday – Android – and every major (and many minor) United States carrier has phones running it. Some more than others, of course, but who has the best lineup? I take a gander at offerings from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular, MetroPCS and more and at the end I’ll let you know who I think has the best Android lineup. Let’s get started!
AT&TIt’s no secret that AT&T got off to a slow start when it comes to Android. Blame it on More >
Google Gaming Console? Android, Google TV, and The Cloud Could Rain Down Awesomeness [OPINION]
May 5th
We already know (or think we know) that Google TV will play a big role at Google IO next week, under the veil of Android. But if you connect the dots it seems like Google may be planning a powerful foray into the gaming market that could compete with traditional gaming consoles like XBOX360, PS3, and Wii. Let’s follow the trail of clues:
- First of all, we expect Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) to merge with Google TV in the source code for the upcoming release of Android x.x (Ice Cream Sandwich).
- That’ll lay a lot of behind the More >
Leveraging your iPhone development expertise to build Windows Phone 7 applications
May 4th
Assuming you are a happy coder, the joy of developing software all comes down to a few things:
- Building something cool that users will enjoy
- Getting rewards from users and recognition from peers
- Learning how to solve new challenges and build novel features.
Even if you have a solid expertise on a particular platform/language, I think it is essential to be a “polyglot” developer. In other words, you might have a native or preferred language, but opening your mind to others can be very stimulating and will bring considerable value to your abilities and your resume.
